Preliminary Layout

 Title: Some titles in consideration are: The Revolution, What You See Is What You Get, It is I, See Me, Spotlight, For the Masses 

Setting: A small town in Florida, Winter of 1986 

Characters: High school seniors Walter, Robert (Rob), and Billy. The three are “tech-savvy” best friends, with Walter being the mastermind behind the virus he plans on unleashing onto computers across the world with Rob and Billy unknowingly contributing to the project. 

Actions: Present day Walter plays an audio cassette of an interview from prison. This interview tells the story of Walter’s reflection of his past that led him to be put in prison. After a few lines from present day Walter, it fades into a scene in his childhood bedroom with 8-bit computer music playing throughout. It is early Sunday morning. Walter is seen going through his morning routine stating up all his computer equipment to continue working on multiple projects in his dark and cluttered room. Credits are shown throughout the scene. Music ends abruptly as the phone rings in the other room, with friend Robert on the other end of the line. Walter leaves the room to answer it as the title is shown on one of the monitors. 

Plotline: Walter wants to create a computer virus that can spread onto other software so it can access personal information so he can threaten to release their information if they don’t pay him money. In order to create his virus, he needs the help of his friends Rob and Billy who have some experience in business computers and insight on newer computers so Walter can access a wider market. Walter convinces Rob and Billy that he is creating an antivirus he plans to sell. Walter tries to keep his intentions a secret while Rob and Billy help him. Eventually, Rob and Billy find out and attempts to undermine the project as it gets close to completion. Walter then figures out he knows about the virus and immediately cuts ties with Rob and Billy, but Rob and Billy reach out to the authorities and the government to stop Walter. Walter releases the virus just before he gets arrested. He realizes that what he did was wrong and comes back to stop the virus. Walter, Rob, and Billy reconcile and join again to stop it. Walter goes to prison for a few years. The trio then start a partnership specializing computer antivirus software.
