Some Changes

I have made some new decisions. I realize that the scale of my film will be a bit too much for the time that I have, as well as the 2 minute limit. I've decided to narrow down my props. I will only use the Apple //e an d Commodore 64 as the props, and I will use just the Commodore MPS-802 printer in the final scene. I don't have enough time to fix the other props and make them look the best they can. Some components are hard to find and shipping times are longer than usual. I also need to rearrange my bedroom to accommodate the woodgrain table and the rolling desk my Apple //e sits on. Rearranging my room will take quite a bit of time, as my father and I have decided to get rid of the two small shelves in my room and make a large new one. It will create more space in my room, which I need to have in order to begin filming.

Working on Props

I am  currently  working on props for my film. I have most if not all what I need to begin filming. I recently  acquired  the  cassette deck for the first part of the sequence . It needed some maintenance, so I spent the day yesterday fixing and cleaning it.  It is now ready for filming. I am still waiting on some cables that I need to transfer  my 8-bit computer  music to my laptop for the soundtrack.  The computers that will be featured in the film need some restoration. The Commodore 128, 1902 monitor, and 1571 drive are yellowed due to age , so I must restore the plastic back to the original light beige, since they should look almost brand new in the film.  I also need to code some fake programs to run on them while I film so they look like I'm doing a lot of work  for atmosphere.  I also need to repair the Epson printer for the Apple //e since a capacitor blew up inside of it and needs replacement. I  must ...

Creativity & Genre

The importance of creativity  shows when embarking on a journey into something new.  Creativity is the key to rising above others and  creating something unique and special.  The  “Theory of Creativity” TED Talk by Duncan Wardle explained that  creativity  is scarce  in an environment like  work where there is a concrete way of doing something. People in those environments find it hard to think creatively when they don’t have to.  In the  New Introductions activity,  I got to really see why I use my phone apps. I noticed that I like to see what other people are doing and  what is going on around the world that I live in . In the article  “An Interview with Ron  Beghetto : Subtle Nuances of Creativity in Learning and Life” by Michael  Shaugnessy ,  Beg hetto   mentions that creative self-efficacy is shaped by and shapes our  creativity. By having low creative self-efficacy, ...

To Team or Not to Team

I have always considered myself to be more of an introvert than an extrovert. I usually keep to myself and I am not too socially outgoing. I tend to work alone, but sometimes I benefit from other people’s thoughts and ideas. After looking at someone else’s social media and participating in the “Lost at Sea” activity, what I found solidified my initial decision to work alone on the title sequence, but also showed me some of the positives of collaborating with someone else too. When I studied Gannon’s Instagram page, I noticed how much he values the people in his life. He has plenty of posts in which he expresses his appreciation and gratitude towards his girlfriend, as well as his friends in which he consistently comments about them and how much they mean to him. According to the article “The Effect of Team Personality on Team Performance” by John Bradley and Frederick Hebert, “Personality types have an essential role for the success of IS development team performance”. Gannon’s...

Decision Day

Storytelling is the foundation of films and magazines. Films are a way to bring stories to life and magazines enhance the traditional story telling in a modern way using photographs. I see the Adobe software as very useful to display our creativity and to express our feelings, emotions, and thoughts to the outside world.         First, we looked at Adobe Premiere Pro, which is used to make and edit clips to make a movie. When we first opened the application, I noticed the many panels organized on the main screen. It did look a bit intimidating, but I as explored each of the panels, the organization really stood out and felt more familiar to me. One of the stand-out features was the Audio Panel, where you can mix audio channels together to enhance the movie. I can see many ways I can use this feature to its fullest potential. According to Wayne Cherry’s article “Our Place in the Universe, the Importance of Story and St...

Magazine Cover Review

After studying the varying styles that major magazine companies utilize each of their magazines, I noticed  that there are some similarities in how they appeal to their audiences effectively , and how  a majority  of  them alienate the readers who they are not targeting.        Magazines such as  Men’s Health  and  Rolling Stone  heavily use  Red, white, and black  throughout their magazines because those colors appeal to the male audience they are targeting.  They also appeal to the  “ general interests ”  of men.  Many   Sports Illustrated   issues are  filled  cover to cover  with female models in  swimsuit s.  The same thing can be said about magazines like  Cosmopolitan  and  Vogue,  which use similar tactics to appea l to the female audience. Another similar strategy  that magazines  like these utilize is heav...
